We've been using VirtualBox recently and it's *very* good. Free, hosts
on Windows and Linux, and happily runs XP, Linux, whatever. Linux is
particularly good as a client as it'll boot on whatever hardware it
detects as it boots, none of this blue screen stuff.
A fair few whereabouts are looking at totally switching to Linux on the
desktop (and laptop!) and just firing up Windows in a VM for the odd
app that still requires that OS.
