You could try one of those Master / Slave / OneClick Multiplug
solutions.

Basically if one of the master Sockets has power going to it (i.e. the
Kids TV), it will then switch on the power to the other sockets. So
you could make a Hall Way lamp switch on, letting you know they've
still got the TV on.
