Intermittent LCD backlight fault.

My old lappy seems to be having problems getting the back light to
stay on. If the screen moves it will flicker and more often than not,
go off completely, but when the machine is rebooted, the backlight is
fine again.
Has anyone else seen this kind of fault before?
