RE: Just upgraded to Vista Ultimate - MS Action Pack

My laptop had a noisy CPU fan. the 'repair' was to swap out the whole
motherboard & processor (excluding the wifi daughter board). WinXP
complained that I was not 'authenticated' anymore. so will have to go
through the re-registration process.

There surely will have to be a "work around" for this?
What if a processor or board failed on a machine and needed replacing.
Often warranty replacements involve a upgrade to a component too due to
availability of parts.
