RE: Just upgraded to Vista Ultimate - MS Action Pack

I haven't gone Ultimate (and probably won't, until I fancy playing
with
MCE.) but I have to say that my Vista experience so far has been brilliant.

The "upgrade" aspect is more than a little annoying, but it's a
one time
thing - I also found myself gobsmacked at the ability to resize and modify
the partitions (including the C: drive) without a reboot, and with minimal
impact on the system.

The individual volume control per application is brilliant - you can set a
movie or game sound at the right level, without then being deafened by a
windows "boing" when something happens.

I know some people are complaining about UAC - I rather like it. It's like
Linux or MacOS - anything that really should have a confirmation does the
UAC thing.

The Aero effects are simply gorgeous, and Office 2007 is just incredible. I
especially love the conditional formatting thing in excel (you can shade
the
background in cells according to a formula, so that it appears to be a bar
graph, or shaded red/amber/green, or with icon sets .) massively useful
for
presenting information quickly and easily.

The only thing I think I would now love to see is VMware bringing out a
function like Parallel's "Coherence" on the Mac. That would rock!

Ian.
