Re: Does the xAP PIC Controller exist ??

G - which xAP PIC controller do you mean ?

The xAP Netiom (which is PIC based) includes a bi-directional
serial port that will both send and receive any ascii/binary data you
wish using the xAP BSC Text schema (BSC is basic status and control).
However it doesn't have onboard smarts/translation so it just exposes
the serial data as a xAP message . This means it doesn't for example
translate esc 27 3B to 'ON' or whatever. Of course most people will
use a script to do this, running on any of the xAP capable scripting
applications including say HomeSeer which I think you use.

Although not PIC based there is the opn-232 device 'coming soon'
that will have personalities available to translate between a serially
attached device and an appropriate xAP schema, examples might include a
CM12 to X10 schema, Meteor to CID schema, Comfort to security schema
etc. I hope within this product Daniel might be able to support some
more generic functionality (user configurable) for fairly basic
translations between serial command strings/responses and actions,
probably using the BSC schema.

Lehane has some PIC based xAP controllers and Paul B I think too .....

Eventually I'm looking at utilising more of the serial ports on the
Rabbit based gateway products to provide personalities , it's just
awkward allowing a 'mix and match' personality load in terms of the way
I build/compile the code. ... and 'generic' serial support , which
sounds basic but really means .. 'make one version that can work
transparently with all my devices' is quite challenging...
