Re: Philips Pronto Professional TSU9600 - Review

I have been playing with my 9600 for a few days and IMO Mark's
review=20
covers it very nicely. My issue - which is really component related-=20
is that the software has no way of remembering status (variables??)=20
so if & when the serial goes both ways, how will you store/display=20
the component's status/feedback/response?
I say this because I have been trying to find a reliable way of=20
managing input selection on my Toshiba 47" lcd (47WLT66). This unit=20
has no discreet input selection for 2xHDMI, component, etc. To select=20
an input you can either cycle through by pressing input button=20
repeatedly or press the centre cursor button which brings up a=20
graphic list of inputs. You then use the up - down cursor to=20
highlight the desired input and press the centre button again to=20
select; horrible for automation :-(
I have DVD into one HDMI and SKYHD in the other. Ihave been trying to=20
accomodate this into the 9600's activity based setup. With no way to=20
track which input is currently selected, I have no way to know which=20
sequence to used to get the lcd to go to the required input. I can=20
see this becoming a real problem...Any ideas??
I think if Philips enable 2way serial then the programing s/w will=20
need to be redesigned to accommodate variables - how else can one get=20
usable data from the ports? This, I suspect will also need a redesign=20
of the executable on the unit. Any thoughts?
