Well, not a Netgear DG834PN, as the wireless performance is hopeless (25%
packet loss for about 3ft from the router), as is their support
(replacement
unit was due 10 days ago). And not a Linksys WAG54G, as for some reason it
can't maintain a VPN connection for more than a few hours, and needs
rebooting every few days to re-establish it.

The simpler Netgears have always worked well for me, they have a high
sensitivity so are useful in poor BB areas.

I've finally decided to kick my Speedtouch 716WL out the friggin'
window. Can someone recommend a decent alternative voip adsl modem / router
which has a decent & intuitive GUI?
