Regarding Cortex questions:
1. Cortex allows IDRANet objects to be visible to other XPL
applications. In other words an XPL application will be able to use
data from the wealth of IDRANet connected sensors.
2. The fuzzy logic object (and more than one can be used) is a
general purpuse fuzzy control block. So you can connect outputs from
various IDRANet signal sources into the logic, set the weightings and
other fuzzy parameters and then the output can be used to drive some
form of output device eg. Digital to analogue unit, dimmer or even
PWMed switching unit. More specific variants of this logic block are
also provided for HVAC applications. The parametric control logic
provides a structure for implementing a linear discrete time
controller (eg. ARMAX). For example you can create a PID or higher
order controller. The output can be translated to PWM for long time
constant switched actuation, eg. heating. There is no self tuning
facility provided as yet so parameters will have to be worked out
manually/trial error.
3. Yes X10 integration is out of the box. You don't even need an XGW
module - you can simply plug a CM12U into the back of your PC and
have no other IDRANet hardware at all. In that sense Cortex can act
like any other HA software out there and suprisingly might even be
cheaper! But that would be missing the point of the IDRATEK HA
philosophy which is not simply about remote or scheduling type
control.
4. A Cortex API has been introduced into V22 which means you can now
write your own separate applications which can interact with Cortex
and its connected hardware.
