That's the principle, Chris, except it can only go round one wire of
the two
and needs 100s of turns ('current transformer') then amplification etc. I
can build it, but surely someone has one as a pre-built module for around a
fiver? Closest so far is about £12.50 for an 'Intelliplug' then rip
its guts
out...
