Ideally, yes .. 'though the protocol (ReVox, 1980s) is so ancient
(ie: immunity to interference is not up to modern standards - eg:
compact fluorescent lamps tend to take-over in the second-half of
their lives), I'm almost resigned to having to go via RS232,
instead ... one of the reel-to-reels has to be done via RS232 anyway,
another has to be done through a special-to-type interface, and the
other could be done via  parallel interface, or through a controller
& its RS232 interface ... the ReVox' was not cheap (though we bought
it in Germany, for a lot less than we would have had to pay in the
UK) & still sound's pretty good (we look into hi-fi shops now again,
and the odd exhibition, and still not have heard better), so we're
not looking to replace it (not that we could afford to) ...
