Re: USB@480Mbps over Ethernet ?

well usb over cat5 and usb over ethernet are two completely different
things.

gefen has some extenders which can transfer full USB2 speed (150ft maximum)

http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=2648

at $699 though its not cheap

on the other hand you can get some USB network servers, but there is only
certain
things that can be used I believe and I dont think you can get full USB2
speed.

Subject: [ukha_d] USB@480Mbps over Ethernet ?

Hi,

I've got a RAID1 disk array in Node0 which would be nice to access at
higher speeds from my Media Center lounge PC.

I'm trying to find out if USB extenders (over Cat 5 /6 ) can support
USB speeds of 480Mps.

I've pre-cabled CAT6 which I expect will handle the speeds better, but
ultimatly, I'll probbably be goverened by the hardware which converts
USB traffic to Ethernet and vice-versa at the destinaion.

Does any such device exist that handles these speeds ?

Cheers
