RE: Speakers that sound like Bose?
Why would he want his speakers to sound like Bose ones? He really
should
listen to others.

If he is going to spend a good bit of cash, he should go to a few proper
HiFi shops and demo their setups.

Linn make excellent HiFi products, but again that is personal preference
an=
d
the fact that I have invested (spent) a small fortune on my own setup,
additionally they are a Scottish company so I'm sure that has something to
do with it.

Look at B&W as well, excellent speakers.

Subject: [ukha_d] Speakers that sound like Bose?
Bit of an odd question, but my neighbour is just remodelling his lounge,
an=
d
is a bit of a fan of Bose speakers, or at least the sound that comes from
them. However, I've sort of convinced him to go for more standard speakers
so that things are more easily upgraded in the future, and to allow a
prope=
r
choice of amp. So are there other brands of speakers that sound like Bose,
which I'm told are a bit of an acquired taste (got them in my car, but
neve=
r
had them in the house)?
Also, does anyone have any experience of 1-box surround systems, such as
th=
e
Yamaha YSP800? One of his walls is completely made of glass (patio doors),
so side-mounting a speaker would look odd, and he's not keen on ceiling,
bu=
t
is keen on low-profile systems.
He's just got his quote through from the local AV installer for a 42"
screen, amp and speakers (no idea on spec's yet, I'll see the quote on
Friday) for =A315k supply & fit, so I'm thinking of going in with a
counter
bid!
Thanks all, Pete
