Device for HA Control and other stuff

All this discussion about Smartphones has got me thinking about buying
one, But I use little or nothing on mobile as I work from home.
I would like to use the phone mainly as a Simple PDA and Web Browser on
WiFi (for eventual HA control). The mobile would be there for the
occasional call (I have a mobile but never remember to take it with me
when I go out). Indeed a SIP client would be usefull then I could set up
asterix and use it as a cordless phone indoors! I have looked at the
Nokia E61 and MDA Vario II. I would like advice on the lowest total cost
of ownership (i.e contract total +Phone [or sim free +PAYG]). So the
ideal would a single unit to be carried all the time to give Cordless
phone/Web Browser/Mobile Phone/PDA. Size is not so important a I tend to
use a belt holster (I used to carry a PSION 5 Series quite happily! And
currently carry a Medion PDA/GPS unit).

Thanks for any advice.
