Touchscreen Ideas

Hey Guys,

I'm after some ideas. I have a 15" touchscreen monitor that I would
like to utilise in the house for Mainlobby/Home Automation. Now, I've
got the interface sorted and it's all coming together nicely. My
problem is I have no idea what to do about actually running the screen.

I thought of having a small laptop (Dell D410) hidden somewhere to
drive it. This would use wireless to talk to the network so would only
need power.. not bad, but I am worried about having a laptop running
24/7 hidden away somewhere (heat, fire regs etc).

The second idea was to use a remote KVM extender, but the ones that
carry serial as well as VGA are very expensive and I am on a damn
tight budget.

How are others doing this ? I'd love to hear your ideas, solutions !

Many thanks

Marc
