Chris and Geoff,
=20
Thanks for the answers.
=20
I am confused because I put in the DVD and asked for a clean install
rather=
than an upgrade hoping that would freshen up the machine!
=20
It=92s a Laptop with out a Floppy and the DVD drive is in a docking
station=
so I am concerned about formatting the HD and losing the driver for the DV=
D=85
=20
If I were to re-install XP in say C:\newinstall could I then delete all
the=
other guff (c:\win98 c:\winnt c:\windows)

TIA=20

depends where your XP installation went into.
If it went into c:\windows then if thats where your 98 installation is
then=
=20
you are pretty much screwed.
If it went to c:\winnt then you could just delete c:\windows.
If it installed to c:\windows and your 98 is c:\win98 then you could
delete=
=20
the win98 folder.
Dont attempt any of these though unless you know what you are doing.
Ideally you are always better to completely format your drive clean and
install freshly.
Chris

OT Post.
I have installed WinXP Pro on a laptop and the HD seems to be shrinking..
During boot up I have the option to load Win98 /Win2K or XP Pro. How do
I=20
remove the old OSs properly to free up some valuable space on my HD?
TIA
Nigel
