It seems that it is probably the new firmware that helps with the heat

Well I phoned apple today and they just told me to return it to PC World
for an exchange unit as they have "no know issues with heat on the Mac
Book Pro".

Apple have throtled back the CPU to make it run cooler, but that doesn't
work in windows - its still hot.

But if you want HOT stick linux in it.
