[OT] Three Phase at home

  • Subject: [OT] Three Phase at home

Sorry for the OT post but I assume someone here will have gone 3 phase
at home.

A mate has just bought a house with what we think is 3 phase downstairs
(the guy who had the place before had a woodworking shop underneath), The
elec bill is split into 2 halves each showing different pricing. Is 3
phase more expensive per KWH? Does it cost to have it removed? Can the 3
Phase element be removed leaving the conventional supply?

Anyone with any experience would help greatly.

Naturally we have tried calling the supplier but "Alan" from New
Delhi wasn't too clued up on what 3 phase was, whether it had been
installed and what the removal implications were.

TIA.
Tim.
