You can get black out curtain liners. We have them in our bedrooms; they
sit
behind the normal curtains and are made of what feels like rubberized
cotton, like they used to make water proof coats out of. Some light still
leaks through the edges but if the curtain track was longer and I could
hide
it I would put a strip of Velcro down to hold the black out curtain tight
to
the wall.  I have Velux black outs too but they are designed to fit snug
like in a darkroom.

Now I've replaced all the windows in the house, it's time again to think
about how to provide blackouts for the windows. The windows directly face
the sun.

I've seen stick on films, but putting a black film on, with the windows
facing the sun, could cause problems with the windows heating up too much.

Another option is to have a reflective material on the outside possibly ?

Also, I never did find a good source for the LCD glass (wether as a
replacement or addon) - only place I found wanted 2 grand for a square
metre ! Shame as this could have been automated.

Failing this, ill have to revert to louvre shutters :-(
