Its not the strength of the IR, its the ability of the driver to drive
multiple LEDs.

Depending on the output voltage of the driving device there are two ways of
splitting the signal.

If the voltage is high enough then you can connect the two IR emitters in
series. They will operate at a slightly reduced current but most equipment
will work fine with that.

the second option is to connect them in parallel but in that case you
really
need to include a resistor in series with each emitter to allow for
diferences in the forward voltage of the LEDs. a value between 100 and 510
ohms should work fine. Without the resistors, the LED with the lowest Vf
will hog all the current so the other LED will not work at all.
