PCI Express / RS232 / XP / Mac

'wondering if adding a PCI Express RS232 card such as

to a Mac Pro running XP, would give me a fully functional serial port
... on the face of it, I can't see why not, but ... given that a USB /
RS232 interface would not be good enough (for Idratek handshaking etc),
would this be any better ???
