Fw: Multi-VGA to Single screen ?

OK, ignore #3 now :-) Got it all working - but using the PSKill
SysInternals program - that did the trick !

So now I have two shortcuts on the Start bar, one to kick off the remote
plasma session, and another to terminate it. All seemless, no interaction
- thanks Glenn - appreciated.

Ignore #1 and #2

#1 was something wrong on my machine. #2, cant see a way to
"automate" it
(other than the kill command ?) - but a right click on vnc to kill any
sessions miught be good enough. I'd prefer a batch file to keep it
consisent look and feel (icon to launch, icon to close)

So, the only problem left is the warning about full screen coming up, and
also the warning when the connection is closed. Mebe one of the other vnc
derivatives does this ? (Im using TightVNC here)

Very interesting indeed - hadnt thought of that !

Had a quick play - few issues have arisen I couldnt see a fix for

1. No way to run the server without a password ? If not, the vncviewer can


specify a password file - but the program to create that file is linux
only. Tried selecting the "disable password" option but then I
just cant
connect to it.
2. I can tell the local machine to "kill" the remote session -
but then
you get a warning on screen at the other end. Mebe doing a psexec on a
kill process on vncviewer.exe would not have this problem, although a
little of a fudge
3. stop the client moaning about being in full screen mode (having to
press shift-escape)

Any ideas on those ? If so - seems perfect !

If there is a PC attached to the plasma, you can do this for free.

Load up VNC Server on each of the three, and the VNC Client on the 4th.
Using PSExec, kick off the VNC client remotely, specifying the correct
info.

So, on the plasma attached machine, have three batch files (only one
shown below... duplicate for PC2 and PC3):

rem c:\scripts\PC1.bat
rem Batch File to connect to PC1
c:\WinVNC\VNCViewer.exe /fullscreen PC1

And then, on PC1, make a batch file to remotely run the other batch
file:

rem batch file to remotely kick off pc1.bat on PC # 4
psexec \\PC4 c:\scripts\pc1.bat

All free...

If you absolutely have to have a hardware solution, take a look at the
Linksys Wireless Presentation Player, a device which attaches to the
plasma directly, and then other PCs can connect to it remotely (over
wireless or wired connection) and dump their screen output to the
plasma.  But the refresh rate is not all that...

Here's one for all you truckers out there !

Got a requirement here to have a system where there are 3 PC's - and
they
all have their own monitor. Now, we also want the ability to "press a
switch" and that display from the PC you are at to then display on a
4th

monitor (plasma in this case) as well as your own.

The 3rd PC would normally just show photos as a screenshow (not a
'usable'
PC)

Any ideas ? I was thinking KVM but then you'd want to be able to switch
it
from one of the 2 pc's
