RE: Xbox softmodding
This is what I did - my Xbox has a 250Gb samsung spinpoint in it, with
all
my movies on it. I actually FTP anything off that I want to watch
elsewhere.
Not the most elegant, but it works out fine for me most of the time.
I use XBMC as the dashboard too - I put mine together using the Slayer
installer disk - my XBOX is TSOP flashed rather than softmodded: a little
tricker as it involves soldering, and a bit more permanent.
It seems you can now do what you need to do with a softmod rather than
flashing the ROM, so that's probably the best way now.
Ian.

Hmm... I could do this for home, but I'm thinking I want to set one up
for my parents, so it would be better if it is entirely self
contained...

GAH! - that's exactly what I meant, - I just want to go power on, wait a
few seconds, XBMC... that's it, nothing in between. I presume that if a
game disk in the drive that process would not apply, and the game disk
would be booted in preference to the HDD, and thus my nephews would be
able to continue to play games as normal...
