It seems to be the way things are trying to go. I've seen a few articles
recently on one of the latest Cannon digital SLRs. You purchase the
camera but license the software - of course this bit is buried in the
warrantee information that you get but never read. In theory if you lend
the camera to someone you are breaking the licensing agreement as they
are not the legal owner. Mad but true.
