Re: MCE Washing Machine?

This may seem like heresey, but what's the point?

How often do you put clothes in the dryer, and not turn it on? If the
system was really smart, why doesn't it turn itself on when you shut the
door, instead of phoning to ask permission? And who cares if the
clothes are now dry - they'll still be dry when you get home. How
mundane does ones life have to be to want a text letting you know that
the washing is 38% complete?

If you could automate loading and unloading - that would be useful (but
you still shouldn't need to intervene via mobile), and an ironing bot
would certainly be a big hit.

Gadgets only really take off if they are genuinely useful, and the same
goes for HA. It amazes me how these large companies fail time and time
again to spot the basic uselessness of their inventions. In any case,
if you really do want to be able to turn on your dryer from MCE, you can
already do it with xPL :-)
