Series is no good unless the speakers are identical, as otherwise the
impedance curve of one will affect the responce of the other and vice
versa.

I got a QED branded freestanding one, which puts the speakers in series, so
was no use for me, works ok at mums with the bathroom and kitchen speakers
off the B set of speakers of the home theater amp. There is a noticable
change in volume with turning on the second set, but its not major and
nothing that the amp cant turn up to counter, They are all 4 ohm speakers
so
its presenting the amp with 8 ohms, so its still able to deliver a
reasonable amount of power. doubling the impedance will quater the total
power for any given output voltage, so it will be halfed to each speaker.
(assuming my maths is still working)

switch

Can any audio experts out there give me some advice on in-wall A/B
speaker selector switches please.

I need one so I can run two sets of speakers from one Sonos Amp for
the Kitchen and Dining Room and still have individual on/off control.

Do I need to worry about impedance matching with the Sonos (not bought
yet but wiring room up ready) so both left/right hand speakers still
present and 8 ohm load or would the Sonos handle them in parallel (4
ohm?) no problem.

Also, would series wiring them (16 ohm?) (safer?) stop me getting any
kind of reasonable volume from the speakers?
Actually it is even possible to wire them serially using an A/B
selector switch?

The only in-wall selectors I've seen are from places like
www.smarthome.com in the states and they want $45 for shipping and
then I'm likely to get stung for customs duty.

Any ideas on a UK supplier for these?
