Decent Network Tester...

I've never liked those =A310 network "testers" - they're a bloody
waste of
time and (IMO) if you make any kind of network cable that fails a test on
one of those units then you should be shot!
Even when faced with a cable that is causing problems they are next to
useless ... Actually, no, I'll rephrase that - they are useless!
We have a few really nice Fluke network cable testers at work which we use
for verifying and validating Lexcom installs and they do everything
(including keeping a log of the test data for each cable run that you test
on a CF card for later analysis and incorporation into a testing report)
however they're megabucks (=A36k).
Been hunting around for something a bit more "pocket friendly"
and a couple
of months ago a friend bought himself a new toy - a network tester - and
this weekend I blagged it off him for a play.
After spending a few hours running through some known "iffy"
cables this
really is the puppy for serious home use IMO - well specced and not at all
badly priced (for what it actually does). Just gotta find an excuse now to
buy one for myself!
