RE: BMS Systems

For HVAC control with integration to other system look at:

www.smarthomecontrols.co.uk <http://www.smarthomecontrols.co.uk/>
 - LON
based system, modular pre-programmed controllers, custom designed control
panels, turnkey only, more expensive than most other systems

www.sensibleheat.co.uk <http://www.sensibleheat.co.uk/>
 - Hometronic
system, modular pre-programmed controllers, propriety wireless protocol, no
enclosures required, simple to retrofit, cost effective compared to
majorit=
y
of similarly specified systems.

EIB can do what these systems do but it requires full programming. This is
like many commercial BMS systems, so if you have the correct skill base you
can make it do anything you require. This means fully understanding the
mechanics of the application and then having the programming
skills/strateg=
y
to write the code, test it and maintain it.

I'm Scottish agent for Smartkontrols & Sensible Heat so you'll gather I
favour the pre-programmed, application specific module approach so that I
don't have the issues over writing code for every project :-) That's after
spending more than 10 years working with conventional BMS system in
commercial buildings from the likes of Trend, Andover Controls &
others.

Hi guys,

We are in the process of installing a brand new (to the UK) Home Automation
product and would like a bit of feedback on which BMS to use. We know there
are various types but if someone could give a brief low-down on each type
o=
r
provide a great link to a site that does such a thing it would be much
appreciated.

In particular we are interested in the Open Source KNX BMS but anything
(like EIB, X10 etc) to report will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Chris
