I think it depends what you want.

I have one, it was unpacked, stuck in a cupboard and haver never had to
touch it since. It emails me once a day to say all is fine. Speed seems
fine
to me (although I know there we comments about this in toms hardware). All
the house use it for storage. We play movies and mp3 off it onto xbmc. It
just works. Now you could faf and build your own etc etc but if you want an
easy life go for it you will not be dissapointed. One of my favourite
purchases. What I would like to hear from someone when the 750 seagtes come
out is that I can swap the drives over :)
