[OT abit] 5.1 Digital out from PC

  • Subject: [OT abit] 5.1 Digital out from PC

Following failure of my old HTPC i've just built a new one with bits from
Stuart @ Gigtek - sterling service etc.etc. !!

I've got a problem in that i can only seem to get two channels of audio out
of the optical out ??

Firstly its not a Toslink but a Phono style output which i assume is still
ok for 5.1 ?

The board is a Gigabyte K8NF - and what ever i do i cant get 5.1 out - and
my amp never changes 'Dolby Digital' on the display.

I assume that playing ripped DVD's though Zoomplayer sends 5.1

My Yamaha amp has 1 x toslink and 1 x phono input - i've bought a phono to
toslink convertor, and both inputs still only seem to play 2 channels.

Any suggestions or pearls of wisdom greatly appreciated.

Dean.
