But that was the old Deskstar drives when it was IBMs storage division -
those drives are no longer in production and now Hitachi have taken over

I like Maxtors myself - that's what I use most of here and I've not had any
fail (apart from one that I killed by plugging in the power when the PSU
wa=
s
on and got the power connector misaligned) - but I know that some other
people wouldn't touch Maxtors with a barge pole...
