Fibre Optice Advice please

Hi all,

I would like some help please...

The sound card from my pc is normally used with a regular 3.5mm jack
into a small amp that came with the PC and runs surround speakers. I
notice there's a digital out so I took out the normal connection and
stuck in a digital lead (fibre optic thingy!). I've run that into my
Yamaha amp that works fine with other optical inputs, but I get no sound
at all.

I'd like to know if there's anything obvious that I should have done?!
I'm not sure what sound card it is as it just came with the PC. The
lead is 5 metres long.

Hope someone can help.

Regards,

Andy
