They look a fantastic system, I remember seeing it at cedia, thinking
wow...as you say, the dvd interface is very nice.

Did you buy it 'off the shelf' or have it installed?

Subject: [ukha_d] Kaleidescape system - questions?

I got hold of Kaleidescape DVD / music server and am in the process
of ripping my DVD collection to it. This system will eventually be
fitted elsewhere, for now I have the following:
Server: 2.5Tb (half the HD carts are installed)
Player: Model KPlayer 2500
DVD/CD reader: KMusic 4000

It is a very impressive system, you just slot in a DVD and it does
the rest and opens the tray when done. So far I have ripped 97 out
of about 400 dvds which reside in 2x Sony 200 disk DVD player
(mainlobby, slinke).
The music side is less satisfactory from a ripping point of view.
Not too good getting the correct disk info. Proprietry music format
with no support for any other format, not even wav! So transfer of
ripped music from pc.
You can keep an eye on things with a web browser, no pc software
tools, which is OK as the browser interface is very good.
If anyone has any questions (other than cost & why did you get it :-
)) I would be happy to answer them.

Keyvan
