I might be getting my terminology wrong? - what I do know is that my
unit doesn't have a heater but can heat. Heat pump wasn't mentioned
anywhere.

Not sure that's quite right Paul.

Heat Pump types can normally heat as well.

Inverter types can vary their output (ie. not just full-cold [or
full-hot, if they're heat pump type as well]).
