I am finding MCE quiet stable. Its a store bought Acer - no
modification
(although I reckon it needs more RAM)

I was having problems copying large files from it - then found it was
factory set for FAT32 so I changed it to NTFS and have never had to change
it since.

It sits on standby, wakens its self up to record a prog then goes back to
sleep.
