Thanks for the suggestion Rob - i was about to try sticking it on a
spare
hub with another PC...

I have now found that it IS connected - but would not get an IP address
from
the DHCP server built into my Vigor router.

I have given it a static IP/DNS setting etc., and all is well.

Anyone have any suggestions as to why it cant obtain an address - all other
PC's obtain addresses fine - is it becuase its running Windows 2003 server
?

How about using a cross over cable between your 'known' working server (Or
another known working machine) and the dodgy one. If the two will talk then
you have a cable or switch issue.
