I am currently reviewing/testing a product that is based on this chip. I
had
a small issue with the 2.0 drivers (and it turns out it is a common problem
with other USB serial devices, esp GPS devices) in that XP Plug&Play
decided
the serial device attached was a 'Microsoft Ball Point Serial Mouse'
because
the data stream contained a 'M' and data from the device was making the
mouse go crazy.

The fix is to turn off 'serial enumerator' in the advanced properties of
the
device driver. There is an application note that shows how to build this
into the driver install for the FTDI drivers.
