Re: Looking for ideas for adding a WEP router behind a ADSL/WPA router

What you probably need to do is to create a sub network for use only
by the Nintendo. In the new WEP access point, you can restrict access by
MAC address and you could also set the netmask to restrict the number of
connections to it. If the Nintendo is the only device to connect to the WEP
AP then the netmask could be set to 255.255.255.254 instead of 0 at the
end.
This limits the number of connections to 1 or 2 machines.

I assume the Nintendo has to use DHCP for it's IP address. If the WEP AP
has DHCP, then this could be used to dynamically assign it an IP address.
Again, you could restrict the IP assignment range to a single address such
that the Nintendo will receive the same IP address each time it connects.
Just remember to remove this address from the main router assignment
otherwise a clash could occur.

If the Nintendo has the same IP address every time it connects, it will be
easier
to manage its access to your network on the main router. You could
effectively
set up a second internal firewall to prevent access to personal files on
the network etc.

Remember that WEP is better than having no security, but it can be cracked.
