This is exactly why I will *never* own an Ipod or use Itunes, give me a
real "MP3" player anyday. You effectively NEVER actually own the
music
you've bought, your just renting of them at a very extortionate rate. If
I go out and buy the physical CD then I can rip it MP3 or play it on
*any* CD player I choose etc. If I rip it MP3 and store on my PC and the
PC blows up, I can simply rip it again. If, on the other hand, I buy it
(with DRM) then it only plays on the m/c I've downloaded it on and if
the file gets corrupt or deleted (or the PC blows up or gets upgraded)
then you end up having to buy it again (this has happened to a friend of
mine..). I wouldn't mind so much if the cost was significantly cheaper
but it seems to me that buying the physical CD is far better value for
money!

Which neatly demonstrates why DRM is a bad thing - this guys choices
have been brought down to "Apple" or "none". If apple
don't provide a
solution, the only option is to remove the DRM - and more robust DRM
would remove even that option.

It will be interesting to see what effect France's insistence that
iTunes offer a non DRM-infected version of their product will have on
Apple.

Airport Express then. It has analogue and digital optical audio output
which itunes can stream to. Has the added bonus of providing/extending
your wifi network, can bridge a LAN to wifi, and has a USB print
server...
