iTunes protected content as only source

Actually a post for a guy here at work:

He is iTunesCentric! In fact almost his entire music collection is based on
purchased music from the iTunes store all in AAC format!
He won't/can't be bothered to burn and re-rip to remove the protection but
wants to distribute his music to 4 rooms in his house but without a PC in
each room?
Happy to have local speakers/amp in each room and ideally would want
control over volume and selection.

Is there a way?
