Yes Nigel, that is sort of what I had in mind -  I imagine mine having
a lot more insulation tape, cable ties and chocolate block involved - yours
is a lovely job! Sorry for my ignorance, but what does "floated across
a battery" mean - and what does it achieve?

Out of interest, what is the spec of the  13V transformer you bought?
