No reason why not, some of the lighting control systems now come with
wireless keypads that are designed for table top use so I don't see using a
PDA as that much different.

I'd keep the cables for the manual switches in the walls so that they can
be
reinstated if/when you come to sell. Most "normal" folk seem
somewhat put
off by even the simplest HA stuff - where's their sense of adventure?

computer & entertainment systems - I'm thinking of having all the

carries one these days) local control via messages sent from PDAs via IR
links ... visitors could be given temporary control capability, by
beaming between PDAs, using pass-words to give time-outs ... and maybe
not only lights ...

'also thinking of grossly simplifying power & signal distribution
(radio
& TV aerial, ethernet, EIB or CBUS, telephone), by clustering
electrical
equipment & power-sockets into as few as possible places in the house
(it's on three floors, including garage, so it might have to be twelve),
with extension leads avaialble for ocacsional use.

Am I daft ?
