Hi keith, in the bios you should see an option for 'boot device' or wording
to that effect . perhaps even boot order.

I think its F10 to enter the bios - but I may be wrong, its been a while
since I worked on a Compaq.

Jonathan.

Thanks to all who replied.

WOOHOO !!!!

I now have a Compaq Deskpro 6300 running Ubuntu.

Only have one minor problem which might be down to the way I wiped the hard
disk.

When I turn it on I get a disk error and a message on screen
"F1:Boot"

Pressing F1 causes the computer to boot up OK so it appears that somehow I
have not set the drive as bootable. Is there an easy way to fix it ?

In a previous incarnation this machine has had Win2K and Mandrake at
different times but that was on a different hard disk. Prior to wiping the
current disk it was running Win2k in an old P233

Not too worried as this is only test build to get use to it.

Regards

Keith
