BT Home Monitor VP1000 vs Visonic PowerMax RS232 kit

Hi all,

I've just bought a BT Home Monitor VP1000 wireless alarm and discovered it
comes with a RS232 port on the control panel. I know that the Home Monitor
stuff is actually made by Visonic, and looking at the pictures/specs/docs
they seem to match pretty much with the PowerMax kit. So with that in mind
I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the RS232 kit that Visonic
have? The price seems reasonable (see
http://www.personalalarms.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=188),
but I'm just wondering how useful it is for the VP1000 panel. If I can
listen in on event messages then I'd be a happy bunny :)
