Software Updates
Version 1.3
Main Functionality of v1.3
For book lovers: Support for Audible.com
* Sonos is now AudibleReady® so Sonos customers with a subscription to
Audible.com can listen to books, lectures, magazines, and more-all
over the house, with control from the palm of their hand. File formats
supported: Audible .AA (format 4).
* Spoken Word will be added to the Genre menu.
* Sonos does not support any Audible content downloaded via iTunes
with Apple Fairplay DRM.
For music lovers: Support for Apple Lossless Codec
* Apple Lossless joins the list of digital audio file formats
supported by Sonos. Apple Lossless provides bit for bit CD quality
audio but uses half of the hard drive space as uncompressed music
files.
For album art fans: Bigger and better album art features
* Enjoy full-screen, full-color album art: to increase the size of the
album art, press the OK button on the Now Playing screen on your Sonos
Controller or click on the album art in the Now Playing panel on your
Sonos Desktop Controller.
* See thumbnail displays of album art, plus additional track
information including title, artist and album name for each song, when
scrolling through the Music Library or Sonos Queue.
For German speakers: German language support
* German language is now supported throughout the system.
* The Sonos Controller supports German language in the UI.
* The Sonos Desktop Controller supports German in the UI. On
Windows-based machines, choose the language from Sonos Preferences
(You should also set your Windows language to German.) On the Mac,
your OS system language should be set to German.
Plus, these new features and preferences:
Playlist management
* Playlists can be renamed using the Sonos Controller or Sonos Desktop
Controller.
* Tracks can be moved in the Queue using the Sonos Controller or Sonos
Desktop Controller.
* The Sonos Desktop Controller setup for Windows now identifies iTunes
playlists if your music is stored in a location outside of your 'My
Music' folder.
* Playlist locator automatically reconnects playlists with files that
have been moved.
Music management
* When pressing the OK button, a new pop-up menu appears giving users
the option to play now, add to end of queue or play next in queue.
* An 'All Tracks' option is available in both albums and playlists
making it easier to select a whole album or playlist on your
Controller.
* Tracks in the 'Folders' view (formerly Browse By Folder) can be
ordered by: Track Title, Track Number or Filename (from Advanced
System settings on the Controller, or Preferences on the Desktop
Controller).
* Keyboard shortcuts for Music Browse are now available on the Desktop
Controller for the Mac.
Metadata enhancements
* Support for the Disk number metadata tag
* Support for Ogg Vorbis/FLAC Composer tag
* Support for Foobar2000 ReplayGain tags
Enhanced security
* Sonosnet™ now uses 128bit AES encryption providing greater wireless
security.
For Rhapsody subscribers
* The Desktop Controller for Mac will now let you select music from
your Rhapsody account (Rhapsody needs to be running on a Windows
computer on your network).
For Musicmatch users
* File Sharing Permission can be optionally reset when updating the
Music Index on the Windows Desktop Controller.
And more
* AIFF volume normalization
* Selected Zones are remembered in the Zone Menu when the Controller
comes out of deep sleep or the Desktop Controller is launched.
* MP4 music file format now supported
* Support for EXIF album art on the Controller
* Enhanced help menus
