I use CloneDVD & AnyDVD and rip my DVDs to VIDEO_TS folders and *.IFO,
*.VOB
and *.BUP files...

I use some 8 bay firewire to IDE cases that I got from a company called
SpecialTech but their website appears offline at the moment - I hope they
haven't gone titsup.com because they were *BLOODY* nice people to deal
with!

Just a standard MacOS HFS journaled format...

Lovely things and the firewire support for hard discs on them just works -
unlike Windows and Linux!
