Thanks for all the suggestions guys, looks like i'm going to have to
really do some more thinking/planning about what i do and want to
achieve

I like the idea of ISO as i keep all the menu's etc and it acts as a
backup to the dvd itself. But that probably means the mac mini is
the
only quite option because of the 4gb fat32 limit on the NAS drives.
Also the mac can be used as the front end to pass thru my video
matrix
and KAT5 to the tv's

Then again, divx gives good compression so is cheaper on the disk
front. Also, i already pipe my main server onto the matrix so can
use
this for the playback (probably not as good as the mac mini output
though i guess)

To put another iron in the fire i just realised that i have
hauppuage
mvp's around the house, so if i ripped to mpeg i could use these for
playback meaning i free up a slot on the matrix and can have
multiple
movies playing around the house without any additonal spending
(other
than disk space on my main server)

So many options!

Will take a look at the software you mention Ian, do you know if it
can rip to mpeg please?

Many thanks
Tony
