I also agree that voice has a role, at least until MindSeer(tm) comes out
:-)

Phil's example of voice vs Pronto is an (amusing) strawman. Voice will
be best suited to high level information, not replacing individual
finger pushes (except for the fingerless) or things better determined
by other sensors.

An example is where existing sensors will not allow inference of the
room role. The one that comes to  mind is my kitchen, where we
habitually use the under-cupboard lights in the evening, but need main
lights on as well during food preparation. Until I automate the knife
block, there is little sensory information that allows the system to
discriminate. The choice is then a walk to a button to indicate the
role change, or being able to say "Prepare food".

Having said that, my experiments last year did not get good enough
recognition (based on ViaVoice 3 I think), so there's a bit more tech
progress needed.
