Re: [OT]: ADSL Modem + Wireless Router your opinions?

Hiya Gary,
We use (and I've got at home) Draytek Vigor Routers, 2800 for ADSL, 2900
for cable. Add a 'W' to the model to get the wireless versions.
As for the USB adaptors - I've used 3Com USB sticks - and got them all
working with WPA2 encryption.

www.seg.co.uk for the Vigor stuff and
www.3com.co.uk (although looking at the USB wireless adaptors now -
they've changed them! - the ones I was thinking of plugged direct into
the USB socket with a 'swivel' plug - these new ones have a little tail
on them)
oh and www.grc.com/passwords to generate yourself a realy nice big
random password :) (you can use it to set your security for your WiFi)

Then you need to make sure that both your pc's (I'm assuming windows)
are in the same 'workgroup'. When you share a directory it should be
visible on the other pc. The router will handle 'DHCP' which basically
tells network devices what IP address to have (etc.), so just make sure
that TCPIP on your network cards are set to 'obtain IP address
automatically'.

Hopefully helpful
Wayne.
