Homeplug

I'm planning some HA infrastructure for a holiday apartment but have
been
told (as it's new) that I cannot start hacking away at walls and installing
lots of cable - not that I would really want to do that anyway as I'll be
on
holiday -:).

So I'm looking at homeplug as a way of networking a router, PC, Xbox and a
couple of IP cameras with minimum disruption. Also trying to think ahead
about other needs such as streaming HD content from the PC and Xbox to the
TV (there will definately not be a node zero - no room!).

I could go wireless but would need to buy something to hook in the PC, Xbox
and IP cameras so that would become expensive and not necessarily give the
throughput I'm looking for.

Hence looking at Homeplug. There seems various flavours: 14, 54 and 200
Mbps
although throughput seems less than  these theoretical maximums (it annoys
me when they quote these figures that are impossible to get in real life!).
Have seen reviews that suggest that the 54 Mbps offering from
Devolo/Solwise
can provide up to 48Mbps (which I guess would be more that enough for
streaming HD with quite a bit to spare).

So before I take the plunge has anyone any experience of using Homeplug?
